New Home Daycare Laws In Northbrook

Hi,

I’ve just been reading about new home daycare laws in Northbrook on a blog. They seem sensible.

Here’s an excerpt:

“Starting last week, a new home-daycare law was passed through the village board. Starting January 1, small home-based day care centers in Northbrook will have to be inspected for safety and conduct criminal background checks. Day care homes with up to three children will have to have a $50 village license and operators will be required to pay a $44 fee for fingerprinting and background checks, as well as fire safety inspections. To me, this seems like a brilliant idea. Dropping your kids off at someone’s house all day long for five days a week seems like quite the unsafe idea, unless of course, you know them personally.”
